Hippie Treats

Today was one of my fave Auckland shop’s 10th birthday! So to celebrate such a milestone they were giving away 50% off to their Facebook Likers which is AWESOME for people like me..

The Third Eye is the place up on infamous K’ Road and they have an awesome array of everything I love. Easy to wear and pretty clothes, funky, raw and unique jewellery, beautiful scarfs and blankets.

And for a person born and raised in a place that breads hippies this is the next best thing (and a lot cheaper!) to me getting on a plane and heading home.

Floral Barcelona Pants
Bangle with Inlay Metal Beads

I luuuuuuuuuurve the pants! I have been wanting them for awhile and at that price I will more than happily live off noodles for a week to have them. I have been obsessed to say the least with Thai Fishermans Pants for years so these are a nice addition to my easy to wear range.

With having a second look at the image I made of my purchases, I really like these harsh metals with the black and the florals. IDEA! ZZZZIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG!

I hope you are all set for a good weekend, again I am working, but HEY somethings gotta pay for the pants!

Enjoy!

Lazy Rainy Days

I have been a busy wee bee the past week and today I have to say I am stuffed!! Had a full on week last week (I spent every day AT uni!), also had a jam packed weekend of working hard and seeing some friends and then this week has been crazy again.. Group work for uni, crits next week and starting to get my serious brain into gear and READING.

Today I was ment to be doing something I have been amped to do, get stuck into the colour darkroom, but I am so pooped! And lets also chuck it out there that this rain we have been having didn’t really help. At least I know I have a nice view.. even if I am stuck inside for a bit!

BUT yesterday I did get some mail loving, I have been busy slowly buying up stock for a wee side project that I am going to be getting my teeth into over the winter hols. And I finally got some fabric from Argentina! I have always been obsessed with colour and I am so stoked to see these colours and patterns coming into fashion. I cannot wait to use them, just gotta match them with the right bits and pieces.. Im thinking gold square studs, gold eyelets, black leather….

I love Etsy mail! Every package I have received has cute wee notes like this lovely ‘Thank You!”, it just makes me smile.

Hope you are all having a good week so far!
Today other than just enjoying the nothing for a bit I am going to be going to a film developing refresher.. YUS!

Keep up the smiles..

MAIL TIME!

Time for another round of postal loving.

This time I received some treats that I ordered off Etsy…

And I also received the second issue of Print. Magazine. This publication is so perfect. I love the paper stock, the pages filled with bucket lists and quotes and the images inside are beautiful and raw.
I hunted high and low but it was all sold out at my local Mag Nations so I decided to get my hands on it via the lovely people that are behind it.
I loved the touch of a wee note inside, computerised or not, it is still so nice.
I will definitely be looking at getting the next issue.

I hope you are all looking forward to the weekend.
Mine involves a spot of work and I might just make an action plan for the week to come.
Boring I know, but I can’t let these lovely days slide past without getting something made/done/taken.
I now have a sewing machine so hardly any excuses now!

Enjoy whatever the weekend may bring.
Hopefully it has lots of…

The BIG to do list..

For AGES I have had a list of things that I really want to get a making.. BUT you know how life is, it just gets in the way.
Today I woke up and had a look around my room and the evidence is right there in front of me.. A massive collection of bits and pieces that just want something to happen to them.
I think this a great way of shaming myself and to help me realise that I do not really have any excuse to make stuff.

Granted for some I do need to get some added materials/sewing machine to get a making but, a girls gotta dream and I am looking at 2012 being the year to finally getting it all started.

I have boxes and boxes of material, old bags, clothes, cheap jewellery, ribbon, beads… I do have a plan.. HONEST!

Meters upon meters of canvas rolls.. You get the left overs pretty cheap at Gordon Harris. Now do not get me started on my stretched canvas collection.. Opps!

Skateboard decks waiting to be stripped back and given a new life…

And these wee beauties are my lovely Great Aunty Fay’s pressed flower pictures.. I have been meaning to scan these for ages and make use of them. They are SO pretty!

GOSH I think that’s it..
I have an aim to have a stall at the Grey Lynn Festival at the end of the year..
Better get a making then aye?!

Now I hope you are all having a magic weekend.
The sunshine has decided to say HELLO so it looks like we might have ourselves a wee flat BBQ this arvo.
First up tho, a nice stroll up the road to check out Kraftbomb.

Kick back, relax and go get some

Making My Way Home – 15.3.12

I found a Pohutakawa Tree flowering! So pretty.
Happy.

Stamping!

Ok so I have been getting a lil crazy with buying art and craft stuff, but it makes me so happy!

Today I got in the mail a alphabet stamp set and ink pad. I have been thinking about using them for text in photos and also authentic text for headers and the like.

I never knew I could have so much fun. Now I remeber why we thought stamps were soo cool and awesome when we were little.

Nothing like a spot of cuteness and childhood reminiscing to make a Wednesday.

Lomo Obsession

Oh no I did it again!
Ya, I stopped into Cosmic yet again on my way home.. only this time I came out with an Action Sampler Flash.

I am beginning to build up a rather nice array of Lomo’s which makes me smile every time the pile of cameras catches my eye.

I am in love.

Hope you are all having a good week so far!

Sweet Treats

It has been awhile since I stopped by the Sweet Station but today I decided to have a quick look and what would ya know, lots of sweet things ready and waiting to be discovered! After having a quick flick through I came across these images by Caroline Hancox. They are so pretty and those that know me art wise, know how crazy I go for stuff that has imperfections. Gosh these make my wee artsy heart SIIIIIING! x

” These are Polaroid Emulsion Lifts from a recent project exploring what happens in parts of the landscape where nature is creeping back into areas that have been destroyed/built on/neglected by humans. I love areas of landscape that on first glance are not immediately beautiful but on closer inspection reveal a previously hidden attraction. I used Polaroid Film for these images because I like the unpredictable nature the medium, in that every pack of film could have a different hue or slight imperfections. These characteristics have been exaggerated by the Polaroid Emulsion Lift process (removal of the emulsion membrane from the backing paper and transferral onto a different surface) and the delicateness of the end result mirrors the scenes in the images. ” – Caroline Hancox

These are perfect to help with my current thought process. I am having a hard time grasping and deciding how best to make photographic techniques much like these and my nutso ideas that I have at the moment work together in harmony. Pretty much you’ve just gotta go for it and CHANCE will end up popping up in either a good way or bad.

Make sure you have a look around her website, she has pretty nice array of everything

Hope you have all had a great weekend.
I have to admit that procrastination has been getting the better of me.
I have the power to stop it and I will. I hope…
SO much to do, and so little time!
